Starting next week, an experimental PvE matchmaking toggle will let squads and solo runners tackle the map without hostile raiders in the mix. It is a temporary run but it marks a notable shift in how the developers approach the game.
ARC Raiders PvE Matchmaking Toggle Beta Test
The game has had a strong run since launch, gaining steady traction for its tactile gunplay and tense extraction design. The team recently followed that up with the Frozen Trail update, which added cold weather conditions and fresh content to the surface. Right now, a free-to-play weekend is underway across all platforms, giving curious newcomers a chance to try the game out before the test begins.
The upcoming PvE beta runs from October 13 to October 20, 2026, kicking off at 2:00 AM PT / 5:00 AM ET / 10:00 AM BST / 11:00 AM CEST. Once live, you can swap between the standard PvPvE experience and a dedicated PvE session.
In PvE, player-to-player damage is turned off completely, allowing solos, duos, and trios to share the same map while focusing solely on machine threats and organic co-op interactions. You can switch between modes at will, and your PvPvE matchmaking rating will not change while you play in PvE. High-stakes encounters, including Night Raids, Hidden Bunker, Locked Gate, and Frigate, remain exclusive to standard matchmaking because they rely on the tension of running into unknown players.
To balance the reduced risk, PvE sessions feature lower overall loot values, while standard PvPvE runs will offer slightly higher baseline rewards to match their danger. The machines also get a minor behavioral adjustment in PvE like if you are downed, crawling will prompt them to target you again but staying still lets you go unnoticed.
The studio noted that testing this feature comes with real design risks, especially since the project was initially conceived as a co-op PvE game before pivoting to PvPvE. The team is keeping an eye on queue times during off-peak hours and in smaller regions, as splitting the pool could impact matchmaking speed.
The developers are clear that this trial is an experiment rather than a guarantee of a permanent mode. The concept might not work as intended, and any future version could look entirely different after taking player feedback and data into account. When the test wraps up on October 20, the toggle will simply be removed, returning matchmaking to its normal state while the team decides on next steps.
